Industrial relations in Europe have suffered important changes in the last two decades. With the entrance of former communist countries in the democratization process the industrial relations in Eastern Europe faced a new wave of development based on a communist parent stock. However, despite the (almost) common industrial relations background during communist period, the post-communist industrial relations outcome is different in terms of success, organization and relations between trade unions, employers’ associations and government. The panel welcomes papers theoretically and empirically based, single cases or comparative studies. It addresses the following issues: - Effects of economic reforms on corporatist tripartite relations. - Differences in industrial relations and corporatist arrangements across Europe. - Relations between the tripartite actors in corporatist arrangements: behavior, strategies, inequalities. - Development of theories supporting reformed (neo)corporatist arrangements. - Political influences of tripartite relations. - How the EU admission process influences the tripartite relations in the member and candidate states?; What is the impact of EU social policies on the national industrial relations?
