Abstract

The economic transformations of the last two decades have shown under new light the persistence of significant differences across and within advanced industrialised nations. These developments have prompted new interest in exploring the drivers of economic convergence, and in discussing effective strategies to address the needs of the most disadvantaged members of the world’s richest economies. This panel addresses the challenges of development within the developed world through a variety of economic and institutional frameworks and research methods. Specifically, papers in this panel explore the role of capital accumulation, business-state interactions, expert advice, and the contributions of non-profit organisations in shaping multidimensional development strategies.
