Abstract

Regulatory policy is becoming transnational. Regulatory agencies, processes and policies are influenced and constrained by transnational institutions, networks and technologies. These networks scan, edit and promote international best practices, competition, and performance, influence domestic politics, as well as seek compliance among member states through soft law mechanisms, such as peer review and policy benchmarking. This panel welcomes conceptual frameworks and empirical and comparative analyses focusing on theories, models, indicators, and case studies of transnational regulatory governance, the role and impact of international organizations and transnational networks in setting standards and promoting reforms of regulatory governance.
