Abstract

This panel focuses on practically tackling democratic deficits with new tools of voting and collective decision making. It is particularly discussed to what extent these technologies can contribute to propagating democratic procedures and enhancing interest representation. Moreover, it is asked how the level of democratic representation achieved under different procedures interacts with other factors such as voter cleavages, and what policy consequences may arise from this interaction.
