Abstract

The panel explores the links between cohesion policy and financial accountability in the EU. Cohesion funding is managed under the regime of shared management, jointly by the European Commission and the Member States’ administrations. This has led to complex multilevel institutional structures and procedures. The contributions to this panel discuss shortcomings of the shared management of cohesion funding from a trans-disciplinary financial accountability perspective. They also analyse current debates on reforming the system. The panel is organised in cooperation with the research network on Financial Accountability in the European Union (EUFINACCO): https://eufinacco.wordpress.com.
