Abstract

The selection of papers in this panel examines a range of interrelated issues affecting cohesion in Europe, addressing the political, institutional, economic factors that are influencing the role and impact of EU Cohesion policy, including the recent economic and social crises. With theoretical and empirical approaches, as well as with reflection on the experiences of Cohesion policy implementation from across the EU, the panel provides evidence of the utmost importance at a time where the discussions on the reform of the policy for the period after 2020 are starting to take place. Wider themes of democratic and institutional quality in the member states are also discussed.
