In trying to deal with a transitional justice context we are compelled to handle in the present a situation that unfolded in the past, sometimes decades ago. The tendency by external actors to focus on the violations and abuses perpetrated by a prior regime however often leads to de-politicizing communities, dynamics and subjects. This panel will explore and reflect on the sociological and political realities in existence during a transitional context. It will discuss how through making visible these realities, we are able to better understand the context in which societies evolve during a transition.
