Abstract

Bureaucratic structure and institutional design have a well-known impact on organization performance and policy outputs. This panel aims at enhancing the theoretical and empirical understanding of the micro-foundations of this type of effect by focusing on the context-based role of bureaucrats and public organizations in a variety of settings.
