Abstract

In recent years, an emerging research program has begun to examine the international dimensions of authoritarian rule focusing in particular on international factors that contribute to the stability of authoritarianism. This panel contributes to this research agenda by focusing on the drivers of authoritarian behavior in the realm of international and security politics. Are autocracies different actors on the international scene? What drives international authoritarian cooperation? Do autocracies pursue specific strategies in security policy? This panel addresses questions such as these by focusing on the strategies of authoritarian regimes in the realm of international politics and security.
