Abstract

Immigration is one of the most heated topics in current political debates. The extent to which anti-immigration appeals are dominating parties and media agendas is unprecedented. At the same time, immigrants and their children are obtaining citizenship rights, including the right to vote. This panel addresses immigration as a modern political cleavage as well as the issue of migrants’ voting behaviour. The underlining theme of immigration as a source of turbulence in elections speaks to a wide debate on new challenges in political behaviour.
