Abstract

The recent debates of legitimacy of traditional conceptions of democracy in Latin America are illustrations of a declining political trust in the region. Those debates also highlight the emergence, in theory and practice, of new analysis and solutions to the widespread political crisis. With the aim of mapping out these new debates in Latin American politics, the panel analyses central issues related to the consolidation of neoliberalism and social justice. It also covers the relation between social movements protest and youth participation.
