Abstract

International climate goals require a global transition to clean energy to take place in countries around the globe. In practice, investments and policy development remain concentrated in a number of frontrunner countries. Global governance arrangements in the clean energy sector are equally fragmented with different institutions, covering only sub-sets of countries and only parts of the energy sector. This panel will explore the role of global governance in shaping a global energy transition. It welcomes contributions that explore both how actors in the international system are influencing global governance and vice versa how global governance is shaping the energy transitions around the globe.
