Abstract

We develop a method for tracking public sentiment about constitutional courts using textual data from social media. Our project tracks Tweets about the US Supreme Court and other national constitutional courts and employs tools of textual analysis to estimate daily sentiment about the courts and the issues on which they decide cases. These data provide powerful analytic leverage for studying a host of theoretical questions about the relationship between the public and judicial institutions.
