Using the data of the AsiaBarometer Survey conducted in all the Asian societies (except North Korea and East Timor) in the 2000s, the paper examines how citizens respond to officials when they are told, "Be patient and wait" when they seek a government permit. (options: 1) use connections to obtain the permit; 2) nothing can be done: 3) wait and hope that things will work out; 4) write a letter; 5) act without a permit; bribe an official; don't know. National profiles and analyses of their responses are attempted in relation to their demographics and satisfaction society by society.
