In this paper we examine the effects of issue saliency on the survival of public agencies. We test whether the rise of issues on the political agenda has an effect on the hazard rate of agencies. We use a dataset of public agencies established in the Netherlands and assess the estimated effects of the yearly Queen's Speeches on agency duration.
