History shows that the international community's failure to sufficiently punish those responsible for acts of genocide is one of the reasons why genocides, war crimes and crimes against humanity are still committed in the 21st century. The history of negligence and apparent amnesia about the Armenian genocide is an example of this phenomenon. Some believed that Armenians cannot obtain justice so long as they lack a nation that can exert political pressure at an international level. The [global] action against perpetrators is not the responsibility of the few; rather, it should be an undertaking by the many. The international community should act as a united body to make the perpetrators and deniers of these acts surrender and put a halt to genocidal crimes, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Genocide and state-led mass violence are never inevitable, though the belief that they are can become one of their causes.
