Abstract

This paper will explore how today's resistance movements in the global south (Mexico and may be Brazil) are highlighting the multiple dimensions of recent crises to bring back socio-economic issues, but also insisting on their interconnections with political, ecological and cultural issues. The paper will specifically explores the case of indigenous rural communities in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, that are fighting against extractive industries, in defense of their territories, collective autonomy and cultural rights.
