Political competition in Western Europe is structured along an economic and cultural dimension. Yet, while a substantial portion of the electorate combines left-wing attitudes and anti-immigration attitudes, the same can not be said of political parties. We hypothesize that as a result of this mismatch evaluations of the quality of political representation in a country will have a strong ideological basis where left-nationalist voters exhibit the most negative feelings towards political representation.
