Abstract

There are four fault lines in Latin American social regimes, directly related to families and family policy, in Latin American social regimes that eroded the sustainability of both social and economic development during the left shift and eased the emergence of a new right wing coalition. This paper, co-authored with Fernando Filgueira, traces these changes, state responses, and potential links to political polarization and to the emergence of conservative coalitions.
