The reform of the public administration is current in several countries all over the world. It is the same in Hungary. It became clear not only for politicians but also in professional circles that the public administration system of Hungary should be reformed. The first step of the reform process is the radical change of education and further trainings of civil servants. Since 1970s both the University of Laws and the Public Administration College have educated civil servants. Later this college was not an independent higher education institution; it was the Faculty of the Corvinus University of Budapest. In the future not only the uniformisation of knowledge-base is necessary but also the radical enlarge of knowledge in order to the education of civil servants should be secure background of the state so good governance and good government can be created with the help of a common public service university. So the current Hungarian government made the first step to reform the civil servants education: since the 1st of January 2012 the National University for Civil Service has mixed the education of national defence, of police officers and civil servants. The system of further training of civil servants which was developed in 1998 is also ready to reform: it can't fill its role in its current form, it is not in the everyday life of civil servants. This paper outlines the accumulated deficiencies and disfunctions of education and further trainings of civil servants during the last years. The goal of this paper is to present what positive benefits of this reform could have, in which points could be achieved significant progress compared to the current system.
