The paper argues that despite a dynamic circulation of elites, politicians in Argentina and Ecuador remain the same. We explain why this continuity is stronger than renovation and circulation. In order to do that, the paper presents an analysis of political recruitment arguing that there is a lack of renovation of political practices that makes old and new politicans very similar.
