The contribution will take up and examine some argument in F&F. In particular, it will focus on 1) Kantian republicanism, and 2) Ripstein''s reconstruction of Kant''s state of nature argument, and how it compares both with other classical social contract arguments and with the Rawlsian concept of basic structure.
