Gender and Representation in Flexible List System: The Study of Preferential Voting in Elections on Different Levels in the Czech Republic

Abstract

Proposed paper deals with the political representation of women in the Czech Republic in multi-level system of elections. The aim of paper is to find an answer to question whether gender effects the chance to be elected (measured by number of preferential votes) and whether this effect differs in elections on different levels - regional, national and European. For this purpose regression analysis on data about electoral results and characteristics of candidates will be employed. The results and findings could show the impact of electoral arena on chance of woman to success in competion.
