Abstract

The section invites theoretically informed and methodologically sound papers on executive politics broadly conceived. Papers could focus on (1) the inner working of particular organizations in the EU’s executive landscape such as the Commission, agencies, expert committees and comitology (2) patterns of coordination and conflict between them (horizontal) or with global or national counterparts (multi-level (3) specific stages in the policy-making process such as implementation and enforcement. Papers which examine whether and how the executive respond to current challenges such as declining trust in EU institutions, increased politicisation, and differentiated integration are particularly encouraged.
