Abstract

This Section addresses political psychology, theoretical and empirical contributions to pressing political phenomena, focusing particularly, but not exclusively, on crises and grievances in contemporary politics. For the seventeenth year running (since 2005), it brings together scholars from political science, psychology, international relations, sociology and political communication from Europe and the world, who share a common passion: the understanding of psychological determinants of political decision making and action. For 2023, we focus on contemporary challenges to democracy: the Russian invasion of Ukraine, disinformation during the global Covid-19 pandemic, the pressures of the economic recession, the power of populist leaders and election deniers, the implications of Brexit for Europe and Britain, and other key events.
