About

The ICS, Associate Laboratory is a university dedicated to research and advanced training in the social sciences. ICS's mission is to study contemporary societies , with special emphasis on the Portuguese reality and societies and cultures with whom we have historical relations, whether in Europe and in other geographic areas. Adding researchers from various disciplinary fields, ICS currently organizes its research around five broad thematic lines: the formation of the contemporary world, the study of citizenship and democratic institutions, the problem of sustainability, linking environmental, risk and space, the social change and individual action in the context of the family, lifestyles and schooling; identities, migration and religion.
