Our Standing Groups and Research Networks award prizes for exceptional achievement within their specialist fields.
Bringing together the very best in cutting edge research published right across the ECPR’s journals publishing programme over the past 50 years, is a very special ‘virtual special issue’: 50 Years of Scholarship.
The European Journal of Political Research (EJPR) was one of the first activities envisioned and then launched by the ECPR, publishing its first issue in April 1973, just three years after the ECPR was created and edited by Arend Lijphart. TheEuropean Journal of International Relations (EJIR), followed in 1994 as a journal of our Standing Group on International Relations. The News Bulletin completed its transition into the professional journal European Political Science (EPS) in 2001 and a new research journal, European Political Science Review (EPSR) was launched in 2009. The current publishing programme was completed in 2018 with the launch of a fully gold open access journal, PRX (Political Research Exchange).
Throughout the ECPR’s life to date, publishing has played a vital role in meeting the organisation’s mission of advancing the discipline; this contribution is celebrated here with this broad and diverse range of articles.
Each current editorial team was asked to select 4-5 articles which they felt either personified the vision and aims of their journal; stood out as defining a particular problem or theme of study; or served as milestones in the development of the journal or wider discipline.
All articles are available to read free of charge on the publishers’ platforms for the duration of the anniversary year – we hope you enjoy them!
