Ricard Zapata-Barrero is a Full Professor at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) and the director of GRITIM-UPF (Interdisciplinary Research Group on Immigration). He is also a member of the board of directors of IMISCOE (International Migration Research Network) and chairs its External Affairs Committee, alongside being the coordinator of EuroMedMig and EUMedMi Jean Monnet Network.
Ricard is a distinguished visiting scholar at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) (until June 2022). He is currently working on interculturalism as a policy paradigm for diversity policies, Mediterranean migration, urban resilience and migration governance.

The Standing Group provides a platform for scholars studying politics and policies concerning voluntary as well as forced migration and ethnicity to share insights, developments in research methods and perspectives, as well as develop new research co-operations and projects. The Standing Group covers broad research interests including, but not limited to, the following: migrations from any disciplinary perspective; inclusion, integration, or assimilation of immigrant populations; politics and policies concerning refugees and forced displacement; borders, borderlands, and border politics; politics of diversity, xenophobia, racism and ethnic prejudice; politics of accommodating indigenous ethnic minorities; transnational and diaspora politics of immigrant-origin minorities; ethnic conflict.
