Across the world, liberal democracy faces illiberal challenges. While spreading panic about the return of fascism is dangerous and out of focus, several countries are experiencing processes of autocratisation.
On ECPR’s blog site The Loop, political comparativist Luca Manucci connected the dots and illustrated this worrying trend.
Since his first blog piece was published, back in August 2021, 19 essays have been penned in response, by contributors around the globe.
The roundtable took stock of the Loop's 🌊 Illiberalism essay series and brought the discussion forward with a group of international experts.
