About the Courses

The ECPR Methods School offers a broad variety of courses that cater for the needs of researchers in political science and neighbouring disciplines. The Summer School offers five types of courses, each designed to complement the others thus providing a full and comprehensive package of tuition (a further 'Preparatory' short course is available at the Winter School only).

The Summer School programme starts with Short 3-day Intensive Refresher courses held on the 23, 24 and 25 July, followed by a choice of four different types of Main courses, each lasting five or 10 days which run from the 27 July to 7 August.

You can choose from the following course / combinations:

• 3 day short Intensive Refresher course
• Week-one or week-two course
• Week-one and week-two course 
• Two-week course
• You can also combine a Refresher course with a week-one, week-two or two-week course (a package). Course packages offer a discounted rate compared to booking individually.

Class times: 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00

There are seven Intensive Refresher courses offering tools that will be useful for further courses. Typically, software training, before taking a data analysis course.

Main courses (15 hours over 5 days or 30 hours over 10 days) 

Generally classes are either 09:00-12:30 or 14:00-17:30

Week-one courses: 27-31 July (15 hours / 3 hours per day)

Week-two courses: 3-7 August (15 hours / 3 hours per day)

Two-week courses: 27-31 July and 3-7 August (30 hours / 3 hours per day)

Please note to gain ECTS credits there may be an exam on the morning of Saturday 8 August (week-two and two-week courses only)

Data collection/generation course: A hands-on course focused on a specific method (or family of methods) for data collection or generation.

Data analysis course (introductory): A hands-on course focused on a specific method (or family of methods) for data analysis, bringing you to a level of well-informed use.

Data analysis course (advanced): A hands-on course focused on a specific method (or family of methods) for data analysis, bringing you to an expert level, including more recent refinements.
