Lüneburg is located on the main train line between Hannover and Hamburg. You can travel to Lüneburg from Hamburg every half hour and from Hannover once an hour. Lüneburg is within the commuter zone for the Hamburg rapid transit system (HVV)

Visa invitation letters will be supplied on request only when we have received the registration fee in full, and when the 14-day cooling off period has passed. ECPR cannot offer any further advice on visas.

Getting to Lüneberg

By rail

Please consider your environmental footprint and travel to Lüneberg by train, if you can.

Lüneburg is within the commuter zone for the Hamburg rapid transit system (HVV). You can reach the HVV customer service on +49.40.19.449

By air

The nearest airports to Lüneburg are in Hamburg (70 km) Hanover (120 km), and Bremen (150 km).

All three airports can be easily reached by public transport:

  • In Hamburg, urban trains (S-Bahn) run between Hamburg airport and the main train station every 10 minutes; the ride takes 25 minutes.
  • In Hanover, urban trains (S-Bahn) run between Hanover airport and the main train station every 30 minutes; the ride takes about 20 minutes.
  • In Bremen, the tram line 6 leaves for the main train station every 10 minutes.

Getting to the venue

Bus

Departing from the Lüneburg train station, three different buses travel to the Universitätsallee Campus. Each departs every fifteen minutes.

  • Bus 5011 - Towards Rettmer/Häcklingen - Blücherstraße stop
  • Bus 5012 - Towards Bockelsberg - Universitätsallee stop
  • Bus 5600 - Towards Embsen, Schulzentrum - Universitätsallee stop

Bike

StadtRAD Lüneburg rental bikes are available from multiple locations including at the train station and campus. In front of each building and lecture hall are bicycle stands for your use.
