Getting to and around Dublin

Dublin Airport is a 30-50-minute drive, depending on traffic, from both the city centre and the conference venue.

The Aircoach is available from the airport directly to the venue, the bus route 700 takes you directly from the airport to the venue. Tickets can be booked online or with cash or card on arrival.

You will need to purchase the local visitor card, Leap Card, to use public transport in Dublin. The Leap Card allows unlimited travel around the city by selecting a designated time period for its use. Without a Leap Card, all transport around Dublin will need to be paid for in exact cash payments.

Leap Cards can also be purchased at the airport, at Terminal 1's convenience store, Wright's Food Fayre, and online. There is also a helpful App for Leap Card, which can be pre-downloaded before you arrive.

Emergency Services

The number for emergency services in Ireland is 112 or 999. You will be asked the nature of your emergency and if you require an ambulance, police officer, or fire and rescue. In such cases it is helpful to know the Eircode, for emergencies on the UCD campus, you can give D4 F6X4.

First Aid

First aid assistance can be provided by UCD Estates. Call them on 01 716 7999. They will either come to you to deliver first aid or direct emergency services through the campus for you.

There are a number of pharmacies in Dublin that are open late. Lloyds Pharmacy is the nearest late-night pharmacy to campus, their address is 14 Bird Avenue, Farranboley, Dublin 14, D14 Y5V6 and their number is 01 269 7086.

Police

In Ireland, the police are called An Garda Síochána.

There is usually a light police presence on campus through the UCD Campus Watch. If needed they can be contacted through the UCD UniCare emergency line: 01 716 7999.

The closest police station to UCD campus is at 43 Donnybrook Road, and they can be contacted on 01 666 9200. Their operating hours are 07:00 - 21:00 every day of the week.
