Accommodation Offers and Information

Tartu is a great location for the Graduate Student Conference because all of the main accommodation options are within easy walking distance of the main venues. In addition, the city offers a broad range of accommodation options, from dormitory rooms to guesthouses to full-service hotels. Participants can book their accommodation individually by contacting the locations directly. Please note that all information about hotel rates is approximate, prices may change slightly depending on availability. All of the partners listed below have been informed of the Graduate Student Conference and are looking forward to welcoming you in Tartu!

 

Dormitories

Tartu Student Village

The Tartu Student Village offers two housing options: dormitory rooms with up to 100 beds and a hostel with up to 85 beds. All rooms are double-occupancy in order to offer as many low-cost options as possible. Both buildings are modern, have free WiFi (eduroam) and are located just five-minute walk from the city centre. 

  • The dormitory has twin rooms, clustered into apartments (three twin rooms per apartment). Each apartment has a shower, bathroom and kitchen area. The rate for a single bed (in a twin room) is €15 per night. Breakfast is not included, but is available from nearby cafés.
    The hostel has twin rooms which are more individual. Each room has its own bathroom and a small kitchenette. The rate for a single bed (in the twin room) is €20 per night. Breakfast is not included, but is available from nearby cafés.

Tartu Vocational Education Center

The Tartu Vocational Education Center features a dormitory-hotel with up to 82 places in twin rooms. All rooms are double-occupancy in order to offer as many low-cost options as possible. The nightly rate for a single bed (in a twin room) is €25 and includes breakfast. The hotel is located on Kopli Street 1c, just a 10-minute bus ride using one of two city buses number 4 and 9, (the ‘Karete’ bus stop).

Hostels

Hostel Looming is a eco-friendly hostel located a bit further from the centre but in a fascinating old factory building. From time to time meditation and other personal development events take place there. Next to the hostel is a roller-skating rink. Prices start from €15 per night.

Hektor Design Hostel is a brand new hostel which opened in April 2016 and has over 200 beds. Although located a bit further away from the centre, the hostel is right on the main street. Just across the street is Aparaaditehas, an old factory building that's been taken over by professional arts and crafts. Prices start from €15. Additionally, they also offer apartments for rent.

Vaksali 4 is a specially renovated hostel, perfect for those who plan to travel by train since it’s located adjacent to Tartu city train station. With its fully wooden interior, the building has an old-style charm. The hostel just a 15-minute walk to the downtown area from behind the Dome Hill. Rates for a single room start at €30.

Terviseks Bed & Breakfast caters for backpackers and travelers by offering mixed-occupancy rooms with an open kitchen, free breakfast and numerous other amenities. Its biggest win however, is its location, right on the Town Hall square. Prices start at just €15 per night. Book early because spaces are limited!

 

Hotels

Hotel Tartu is located directly in the city center, conveniently close to the bus station and the Tasku shopping center. It features over 70 modern-style rooms. Single-occupancy rates are approximately €50 per night, including breakfast. Book early for the best deals!

Tampere House is a cosy guesthouse situated right in the old-town area. Enjoy home-style accommodation in a 17-century wooden-timber dwelling. Tampere House has just 6 rooms, of which three are twin/double, three are for groups. Rates are between €50 and €99, including breakfast.

Park Hotel as befits its name is tucked away behind Tartu’s Dome Hill, offering a green and quiet location. The building was built in pre-war 1940 by a famous city architect, giving it a stately feel. The hotel features some 20 rooms with rates starting at around €50.

Aleksandri Hotel is a mid-range hotel located within an easy 15-minute walk from the downtown area. It offers 26 twin rooms plus several group rooms. Rates for single-occupancy start at around €40.

Starest Hotel offers some 60 rooms and is located in the Annelinn district of Tartu. Though farther away from the downtown area, it can be reached in less than 15 minutes with three different city buses running every few minutes. The rate for single-occupancy rooms is around €50. An ISIC card gives a 10% discount.

Dorpat Hotel is one of the newest in Tartu, situated right on the banks of the Emajõgi River and featuring a small spa. It is adjacent to the bus station and the Tasku shopping center. It has 170 standard rooms with rates starting at around €75.
