Roundtable: Energy politics after the invasion of Ukraine

Abstract

In this roundtable, leading scholars from the field of energy politics will discuss the implications of the invasion of Ukraine on different aspects of energy politics. How it will it reshape the international political economy of energy? How will it affect energy politics in different countries and regions? How will the war affect the transition to climate-neutrality? How will it reshape the relationship between climate and security policy? This round gathers experts in the field, encouraging them to reflect on these questions considering both the recent political shifts and the insights gathered within the sub-field of energy studies in political science. The roundtable also serves as the conference opening event for the ECPR Research Network on Energy Politics, Policy, and Governance. It is co-hosted by the network’s conference sections on “Energy and Society” (S18) and “The changing political economy of the global energy transition: new challenges on the road to climate neutrality” (S47). The roundtable will begin with a welcome on behalf of the Research Network delivered by Jan Osička, Masaryk University.
