Abstract

Papers in this panel present the (permanent) online campaigning of political actors and its ramifications. Topics span from political elites' use of ingroup/outgroup appeals in Twitter communication, to persuasive strategies within data-driven political advertising, and the impact of data-driven targeting on perceived issue importance. Additionally, the panel examines the competencies citizens need to navigate this new landscape of political online campaigning.
