Abstract

This roundtable session convenes a panel of scholars that will discuss the development and application of computational approaches for the evaluation of public policy design and associated dynamics. Panellists will speak to (i) the development of computationally tractable conceptual frameworks and protocols to guide reliable investigation of policy design; (ii) the development and/or application of computational text analysis tools to evaluate policy design; and (iii) the use of computational techniques, such as agent-based modeling, to assess the impact of different policy governed scenarios on behavioral and systemic outcomes. The panellists will discuss opportunities and challenges associated with the aforementioned, while at the same time discussing the overall value of using computational approaches in the study of regulation. Panellists: • Christopher Frantz (moderator), Norwegian University of Science and Technology • Saba Siddiki, Syracuse University • Jonathan Kamkhaji, Politecnico di Milano • Seth Frey, University of California Davis
