Reproductive Justice in Healthcare

Abstract

In many ways, reproductive rights and justice depend upon the care and assistance of medical professionals. This panel brings together papers that discuss elements of healthcare provision and access to healthcare like contraception, gender-affirming fertility care, and menstrual support. In order to adopt evidence-based policies and advocate for practical solutions that work for our communities, scholars of politics and society must become conversant in the medical realities of reproductive healthcare. These studies cut across various reproductive healthcare topics but share a common element of diving into the experiences of medical providers and patients, beneficiaries of healthcare programs, and connecting these seemingly private and personal experiences to the public and political realms. In reproductive justice, the personal is most definitely political.
