Abstract

This panel explores new developments in conducting and assessing research-focused education in Politics and International Relations (IR). Bringing together different approaches and practice examples of active learning and assessment, this panel discusses the underlying pedagogical rationales and practical implications of planning, conducting, and evaluating research and policy-focused education activities inside and outside the classroom. We welcome paper submissions that address these and related topics such as different modalities of active learning, questions about equality, diversity, and inclusion in teaching Politics and International Relations, teaching about controversial topics, and the question of freedom of academic speech, next to new methodologies of (un)learning Politics and IR.
