Abstract

Presenter: Eneken Tikk, University of Helsinki Title: Cybersecurity and Energy Transition Abstract: The energy sector has been affected by several serious cyberattacks over the past decade. The dyadic and antagonistic pretext of cyberattacks suggests that resilience and sustainability of energy are a burden shared by governments and critical infrastructure operators. While in the EU resilience has become a necessary component of digital and green development, other countries may not share the digitalization enthusiasm or resilience readiness. This contribution discusses the technical, organizational and societal phenomena that make attacks against the energy sector more likely or more likely to succeed and analyzes the impact and effect of the burden-sharing model proposed in the international and regional cybersecurity discussions.
