Speakers: Stefan Wolff, University of Birmingham Kateryna Pishchikova, ISPI Alexandra Dienes, FES Vienna Moderator: Martin Neumann, University of Southern Denmark The last decade faced an increasing destabilization of the international peace and security order, of which the current wars in Ukraine, but also Palestine and elsewhere, are obvious indicators. In Europe and globally, trends towards liberalism and democracy are no longer uncontested and, in many cases, reversed. The peace dividend of the 1990 seems to be consumed and international attempts at establishing a lasting security order seem to have failed. This raises many questions for which an immediate answer is urgently needed. These range from questions of immediate conflict resolution to more long-term perspectives what might come afterwards and more theoretical questions such as who actually is – or could be – an actor in the system of international relations.
