Abstract

It is widely recognized that both formal actors, such as judicial councils or judicial clerks, and informal actors, including epistemic communities, political elites, or social networks, can significantly influence the functioning of courts and the adjudication process. Judicial councils, for instance, are responsible for overseeing the administration of justice and ensuring the independence and accountability of the judiciary. On the other hand, informal actors exert their influence in more subtle yet significant ways. Epistemic communities may shape judicial thinking by contributing to the development of legal doctrines and providing specialized knowledge. This panel aims to delve deeper into these dynamics by exploring new insights into the roles and impacts of these diverse actors on courts and judicial decision-making.
