Higher education institutions today are embedded in discussions about supporting students. The key question is both one of ‘where’ such support is needed, and one of ‘how?’ In this panel we explore how our implicit assumptions over students’ (digital) skills or familarity with concepts and ideas like EDI may inhibit effective support. Conversely, we will also look at the means by which we can support students into discussing contentious issues or attain the necessary civic skills to participate in contemporary democratic societies.
