Abstract

Democratic design is central to ensuring that representative institutions remain responsive, inclusive, and participatory. This panel explores how innovative reforms can help bridging the gap between citizens and representatives, foster intersectional representation, and re-imagine democratic governance for the future. Papers examine proposals to strengthen democratic intermediation, the role of intersectional practices in enhancing inclusion, and lessons from historical and speculative models. By considering both practical reforms and theoretical perspectives, this panel investigates how democratic institutions can be restructured to create more open, participatory, and resilient representative systems.
