Abstract

Legislative and executive relations have unfolded into new variance of peculiarities in presidential, parliamentary and hybrid political systems. The necessity of better systems and efficient desirable governmental relations lies at the foundation of better administrative countries. The nature of its relationship has been oscillating between cooperation and conflicts. Policy formulation for the progress of the country is determined by executive and legislative inter play. Over the years, legislative and executive relations in parliamentary and presidential systems have attracted much of the discussions. While it has been assumed that conflict is a necessary and beneficial precondition to limiting and controlling government whereas others believe that it makes government ineffective. Its relationship has become more crucial to study comparative politics. Constitutional prerogatives vested in executive and legislature defines the structure of framework for interactions between them. Some argue that peaceful relationship between them will lead country’s political institutions in improving their functionality which reinforces confidence in government and its processes. It is the key of defining features of functioning of any political system. Both in Parliamentarian and Presidential systems, this relationship have their own peculiarities. Political parties in both systems have played an important role in dealing with executive and legislative relations. They are the important arms of any democratic system as they largely contribute in policy making and implementation. Legislative roles of parliaments are responsible for reviewing bills and enacting legislation, amendments and regulations which are needed to support national development programs. The legislature and executive can synergise their functions together to re-focus and re-invent the policy making and implementation process effectively. We need to re-weigh that both executive and legislative relations are instruments for proceeding ahead with good governance. The panel is going to deal with some dimensions of these related themes.
