Party systems and their structure have mainly been studied employing manifesto data. Recently, some studies started to use Voting Advice Application (VAA) data to map parties in multidimensional space. Relying on the answers of parties regarding a number of policy statements, scholars showed that VAA party data produce similar party system representations than employing manifesto data. This paper extends this approach, and uses VAA data to produce multidimensional mappings of the Belgian party system using evidence generated for the Stemtest 2014 VAA in Belgium. Belgian parties operate in a multilevel governance environment and the 2014 elections were simultaneous European, national and regional elections. Hence we compare the party space across these three levels. We also compare between the French-speaking and Dutch-speaking parties. Although these parties are competing in different systems, after elections they govern together at the federal level.
