Abstract

The officially declared support for “effective multilateralism” invigorated the scholar’s scrutiny of the modes of representation, interaction and performance of the EU in different international institutions. This wave of research focused on the EU contribution to the establishment of international norms and rules as well as promotion of international regimes at global level. This paper presents the practices the quasi-diplomatic field of international bureaucracies in the case of EU engagement with International Organizations in Ukraine. This analysis of inter-institutional interactions describes the role of the EU Delegation in relations with other international bureaucracies present in Kyiv and is approached from the perspective of power relations in everyday practices. It scrutinizes the relations of the EU with international organizations in the areas of democracy promotion (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), judiciary reforms (Council of Europe), migration management (International Organization for Migration, UNHCR) and economic reforms (IFIs) in Ukraine.
