This panel explores questions related to the development of and changes to European diplomatic practices, in particular regarding EU external relations in the post-Lisbon era. Theoretically, the panel brings together papers that draw upon practice theory, organizational theory, Foreign Policy Analysis, and Europeanization in order to shed light of crucial aspects of EU foreign policy making. Empirically, the papers in this panel cover issues such as the tensions between EU energy governance and energy diplomacy, EU-Ukraine relations and other international organizations, and the EU’s responses to the Arab spring.
