Religiosity and religious attachment is still an important factor in determining citizens vote. It has always been a factor structuring politics and contributing to cleavage development. Poland is a special case as far as the role of religion is concerned, because of its uniques position under communist rule and its role in dismantling communism. Twenty odd years into the democratic transition its role, irrespectively of the clear secular traits among population at large, still holds. The main research question of the paper is to address the issue to what exytent this phenomenon is a cultural/institutional factor and what is the role of political agency.
