Abstract

The paper investigates if effective implementation of deliberative democracy could improve trust in political institutions at local level. Therefore, it pursues two main objectives. First, it provides a methodological overview and analysis of deliberative instruments, which is essential topic in current literature on deliberative democracy and democratic innovations. Secondly, author analysed a cooperation between local authorities and civil society during the process of deliberation from the trust perspective using data from the field research in Ukraine. The main hypothesis of the paper is that effective implementation of deliberative democracy instruments could improve trust in political institutions at local level.
