Abstract

The paper aims to comprehensively scrutinize the practice of public hearing in lawmaking process in Poland, in wich representative democracy has recently been under a multifaceted pressure. The study offers an in-depth look at preconditions, processes, and outcomes. In addition, it discusses their specific features, effectiveness and weaknesses. It also provides a critical assessment of the practice of public hearing, with particular focus on their policy impact. Futhermore, the research findings allow for the formulation of recommendations on how to make public hearing a viable component of representative democracy and how to improve it.
